Jocelyn, a sophomore at Cumberland Valley High School, has nurtured a deep love for music since the age of six, when she first began playing the piano. Three years later, she took up the violin, an instrument that has opened countless opportunities for her to grow as a musician. She currently plays in her school's advanced orchestra, the Harrisburg Youth Symphony Orchestra, and in her Chinese school ensemble. Additionally, she has participated in the Cumberland County Orchestra Festival and the PMEA District 7 Festival. She feels especially grateful to study under the guidance of Andrey Lubimtsev and Vera Solomin.
Over the past year, Jocelyn has devoted much of her energy to expanding Soothing Strings through concerts and workshops designed to inspire other young musicians. From organizing the music and creating flyers to coordinating rehearsals and performing for the community, she has played an impactful role in Soothing Strings.
Evelyn, a seventh grader at Mountain View Middle School, has followed in her sister’s footsteps by learning both piano and cello. She began piano lessons at six, and by the age of nine, added cello. Today, she performs in several ensembles, including the Mountain View school'school's advanced orchestra, the Harrisburg Junior Youth Orchestra, and her Chinese school ensemble. She has also enriched her training through studies with Andrey Lubimtsev and Michael Cameron, as well as at the Messiah Orchestra Summer Camp.
In addition to performing, Evelyn plays an important role behind the scenes. She helps her sister with concert setup, website design, and promotional efforts, and occasionally performs at the holiday concerts.
They are the talented "friends" portion of "The Soothing Strings and Friends"! We are so grateful for their help and dedication towards performing at our concerts!
